With the world on restrictions due to COVID-19, many families are baking more at home and trying to spend more time inside. Here is a no-fry donut recipe that you can use at home using our Silicone Doughnut Baking Mold. Whatever you make, send us some pics, we would love to showcase your doughnut talent on our site.
Active dry yeast- 1/4 ounce x 2
1 & 1/2 cups of warm milk(not too hot)
1/4 cup of warm water(not too hot)
1/3 cup of shortening
1 teaspoon salt
5 cups of all-purpose flour
1/4 cup of melted butter
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
2 Cups confectioners’ sugar
1/2 cup of butter
4 1/2 teaspoon of water
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in water.
Add in the milk and shortening. Stir for about 1 minute to a minute and a half.
Add sugar, eggs, salt, nutmeg, cinnamon and about half of the flour, beat on low speed until smooth.
Slowly stir in the remainder of the flour until your dough is soft.
Cover dough with a towel and let it rise in a warm place- about 1 hour
After letting dough rise, put unto a floured surface and roll out with a non stick rolling pin to about 1/2 inch thickness.
Cut dough and use your fingers to press them into our Silicone Doughnut Baking Mold
Brush with butter and cover. Let sit for about 30 minutes until dough is doubled.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes or until lightly brown, whichever comes first.
Melt your butter in a saucepan and slowly add in your confectioners’ sugar, water and vanilla, keep your heat low and cook until smooth
Once your doughnuts are baked, dip each doughnut into the glaze, turning over to fully coat them. Let them sit on a rack to drain. You can also kick up your doughnuts a notch by adding your favorite sprinkles such as these Edible Colorful Sugar Sprinkles or these Golden Pearl pearl Sprinkles
